Embodied Simulation and the Coding-Problem of Simulation Theory. Interventions from Cultural Sciences
The article discusses (1) epistemological problems such as the quality-quantity-gap and the coding problem, (2) the problematic language-theory implicit in neuroscience (e.a. Lakoff), and (3) cultural-historical insights in the development of compassion, which question the neuro-biological idea of empathy as a universal capacity.
